Important Voluntary Recall: SWAN EASYFIT Steel & Stainless Harnesses

Petzl is issuing a voluntary recall for certain SWAN EASYFIT harnesses, both Steel and Stainless versions, because of a problem with the FAST LT buckle. The defect could allow the buckle to fail at the back of the harness. If that happens, the harness may open unexpectedly, putting the wearer at risk of a serious fall or worse. Please stop using any harness that is part of this affected batch immediately. (petzl.com)

Which Harnesses Are Affected

Only the following harness models and batch numbers are involved:

  • SWAN EASYFIT STEEL

    • Single harness: reference C062AA00

    • Pack of 5: reference C062AA01

  • SWAN EASYFIT STAINLESS

    • Single harness: reference C062BA00

    • Pack of 5: reference C062BA01

Sales period in the U.S. and Canada: from June 22, 2022 until current date. (petzl.com)

You can find whether your harness is affected by checking the individual (serial) number. The first 10 digits identify the batch. (petzl.com)

What to Do Now

If you have one of the affected harnesses:

  • Stop using it right away.

  • Set it aside in a secure place.

  • Return it to Petzl for a free replacement. Petzl will cover all shipping. (petzl.com)

If you are a retailer:

  • Do not sell any of these affected harnesses.

  • Quarantine any stock you have.

  • Inform your customers.

  • Return the product to Petzl for replacement or inspection. (petzl.com)

  • If your harness is not from the specified batch, it is not part of this recall.

  • SWAN FREEFALL models and SWAN FREEFALL STEEL/STAINLESS are not impacted because they do not include the FAST LT buckle in question. (petzl.com)
